Abnormality Management
Abnormality Management is a way of configuring work so that so that any deviations from standards or the expected norms are obvious at a glance. Focus areas include: safety, operational task flow, functional task execution, or other activities.
When implemented well within a continuous improvement culture, Abnormality Management relies mainly upon detection by visual cues (core to Lean Enterprise) that relay current work status versus expected performance. If there’s a gap between them, and mindful of its severity, issues are promptly dispositioned by applying countermeasures to redirect methods and avoid recurrence.
